It doesn’t matter if it’s in San Jose, Siberia, or on a sheet of backyard ice—there is no world where the Canadiens should be priced in this range as a road favorite in their currentform. Montreal has lost five straight, they’ve been outscored 17-8 during that stretch, and they have a date with the Kings tomorrow night. Yet somehow, the market is treating them like a team you can trust to win games away from home.

The Sharks, meanwhile, are being priced like a team waiting for the season to end, but recent results suggest otherwise. They’ve won two of their last three, including a 2-1 victory over a desperate Buffalo squad, and they’ve also been playing tougher at home, with a 5-4-1 record in their last 10 at the Shark Tank, where they’re no pushover when engaged.

Yes, the Sharks just traded Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci, but that’s not necessarily a negative. Young guys like Will Smith and Thomas Bordeleau are getting opportunities, and teams often rally in the short term after big trades.

Regardless, this is purely a play against an inflated line. Montreal is not a team built to lay significant juice on the road against anyone, and we’re getting a live home dog that is far more dangerous than the market suggests. San Jose at this inflated price is the only wager to make.
