Anaheim +197 over Dallas

10:30 PM ET. OT included. The Stars roll into Anaheim riding a five-game heater, and the books are treating them like the second coming of the ‘70s Canadiens, but let’s pump the brakes. This is a classicoverpriced favorite walking into a trap. Dallas just finished a homestand, now they start a West Coast roadie against a team they’re supposed to beat, and the market has them priced like it’s already in the bag. We’ve seen this movie before—spoiler alert: it doesn’t always end well for the favorite.

Sure, Dallas has been winning, but they barely scraped by Columbus last game. Needing a third-period rally against the Blue Jackets is like bragging about outlifting a toddler—it doesn’t mean much. Let’s not forget that Anaheim already handled this Stars team once, beating them 4-2 in Dallas back in November. Now the Ducks are at home, where they’re a sneaky 6-1-1 in their last eight. You can also forget the “revenge” angle for the Stars because that s**t is as old and tired an angle as there is.

Anaheim’s got pieces rolling right now. Mason McTavish is hotter than a California sidewalk in July, Frank Vatrano is filling the net, and Alex Killorn is that veteran who always seems to show up when it matters. The Ducks are also 21-0-2 when they score three goals, meaning if they can find a way to light the lamp a few times, they’re incredibly tough to beat.

This line is based purely on reputation, not reality. Dallas is good, sure, but Anaheim is playing with confidence, they’re at home, and they’ve already proven they can take down the Stars. At nearly 2-1, the Ducks are absolutely live, and we’re grabbing the value while it’s there.
