The Flames faced Washington on Tuesday night and looked completely out of sync in a 3-1 loss. This is a Flames team that is flawed in so many ways, most notably their inability to finish. It’s one thing to generate chances, but it’s another to cash in on them, and Calgary sits bottom third in the NHL in shooting percentage.

Now we have the Ducks quietly playing some of their best hockey of the season. Winners of three straight, Anaheim has suddenly found some offensive punch, lighting the lamp 16 times during this streak. Mason McTavish is on fire, Troy Terry is heating up, and the confidence in the Ducks’ locker room is at its highest point all season. The Ducks are also getting quality goaltending from both John Gibson and Lukas Dostal, which makes them a very live underdog in this spot.

The Flames are being priced based on perception rather than reality. Yes, they sit ahead of Anaheim in the standings, but recent form and underlying numbers suggest this gap isn’t as wide as the market suggests. Calgary is far too inconsistent to be priced in this range against a team playing with purpose and confidence. Extreme overlay.
