Seattle +126 over Dallas

9:30 PM EST. OT included. This series is tied at 1-1, after the Stars took Game 2 in Dallas, 4-2. The Kraken will continue to be without their leading scorer, Jared McCann, who is still recovering from an injury suffered in the first round of the playoffs. However, the Kraken have shown they can win without him, as they eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche in seven games in the opening round. Tye Kartye has been filling in for McCann on the Kraken's top line and has scored two goals in five games. The Kraken will need him and the rest of their depth to step up once again, as they have done all playoffs long.

It's worth noting that the Kraken have been a tough team to beat on home ice this season. In fact, the Kraken finished the regular season with a 22-10-5 record at Climate Pledge Arena, making them one of the most dominant home teams in the league. Despite that, the Kraken are priced here as a significant underdog.

For some perspective, when these two teams played a pair of games in Seattle in March, the Stars were priced at -124 and -113, and they would go on to win both of those games, with one coming in overtime. Those results have influence here, but regular-season matchups can be a poor predictor of playoff success. Regardless, the price here is inflated.

The Kraken played a 50/50 game with Colorado in that series, which is one of the reasons they were such a tremendous value in Round 1. That is to say, it was a virtual coin flip on the ice. In a 50/50 proposition, over time, you are going to come out ahead if you gack the underdog. Meanwhile, the Stars were only at around 52% when looking at even-strength play drivers against the Wild, which is why we preach to play the value and let the chips fall where they may. The Stars beat the Wild, but they did not dominate to the level oddsmakers priced them at. Well, the same goes for Round 2. These two teams are far more evenly matched than the price here suggests. The Kraken are being disrespected on home ice. That’s a bet.
