7:10 PM EST. OT included. After the first round of this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs, the Maple Leafs ranked 16th out of 16 teams in puck possession time in the offensive end during five on five play. Tampa Bay ranked first because they played the Maple Leafs. We point that out to give you an idea of just how poorly Toronto played in Round 1 and just how fortunate they were to even get out of the first round. Meanwhile, Florida ranked 7th in puck possession time and that was after playing the Bruins. The Panthers also ranked 4th in xGF after the first round.

We’ll once again point out that value is everything and once again the price to get behind the Panthers here is absurd. The Maple Leafs had a tremendous second period in Game 1 of this series (probably their best period of the playoffs thus far) and yet they still couldn’t get to the front. Everything was aligned strongly for Toronto to win Game 1, as the Leafs had an extra day's rest, Florida had just come off an exhilarating Game 7 win over the mighty Bruins and Toronto had two very early power-plays for a chance to get to the front. Despite the advantages Toronto had, they still lost Game 1 and they are not in a better position to win Game 2. Florida is rolling with four straight wins and a massive amount of confidence. The Maple Leafs are a fragile bunch that got badly outplayed in Round 1, as if they were/are anticipating the inevitable to come. Most importantly is that the value on Florida is off the charts great and we simply cannot pass up this opportunity to come right back on them at this price in what is essentially a 50/50 proposition on Toronto’s best day.
