10:07 PM EST. OT Included. The Canucks and their numbskull coach will return home after a 6-1 loss in Seattle in Rick Tocchet’s second game. We went over all the distractions surrounding the Canucks when we faded them in Tocchet’s season coaching debut, a game they would easily win (against Chicago) but then they went right back to being the Canucks in a 6-1 loss to Seattle. We didn’t fade them in Seattle because Seattle was a significant favorite and playing big favs is not usually in our wheelhouse. With Vancouver now being a big favorite again, we’ll gladly go back to fading them again. Aside from the coaching change distractions and all the negativity surrounding the Canucks, the trade deadline is also on the minds of many of the players. Surely, some will be moved. In any event, when Vancouver is priced in this range, they are great fade material.

Hello Columbus, the most bizarre franchise in the NHL. It seems like every year the Jackets have a horrible first half, followed by a rock-solid second half, followed by high expectations or a “sleeper target” the next season because of their strong second half, followed by them failing miserably again when the next season starts. After a horrible first half this year, Columbus played arguably two of their best games of the year when they went into Calgary and Edmonton respectively and picked up three out of a possible four points. They beat the Oilers and took the Flames to OT. Now they’ll take a step down in class when facing the very beatable Canucks. The Jackets have played a slew of tough teams lately with games against Tampa, Carolina (twice), Washington, the Rangers, Edmonton and Calgary. They have won three of their last seven games and they have some swag lately too. Of course they can win here.
