Anaheim -½ +275 over St. Louis

8:38 PM EST. Regulation only. We found a great spot with the Habs last night in Ottawa but still ended up ripping our ticket in disgust, as Ottawa would score 5 times on its first 16 shots. The Sens were outshot 36-18 and won 6-4. That’s hockey, where the better team on the ice by a country mile loses frequently. If that should happen again here so be it, but situational spots do not get much better than this one.

First off, St. Louis has remarkably won 11 of their past 12 games. Its one loss over that span came in OT, thus they haven’t lost in regulation since March 26, a span of 15 games. For a team that ranks 24th in the NHL in puck possession time in the offensive end during five-on-five play, the Blue Notes streak is beyond incredible. About a million things have to go right for a team to win that often when it plays without the puck so frequently. That’s only part of the story.

After two home games in succession on April 8th and 9th against Minnesota and the Islanders respectively, the Blues would travel to Boston and Buffalo before returning home for one game against Minnesota on April 16th. After that, it was back on the road for a game in Nashville, then back home for one game against Boston, then back on the road for games against San Jose this past Thursday and Arizona last night. This game marks the eighth straight game in which the Blues have had to travel to play. Since last Saturday, eight days ago, tonight’s game against the Ducks will be the Blues sixth game since. Thus, it is their sixth game in eight days, fourth game in six days, third game in four days and tail end of back-to-back and they had to travel to get to all of them.

Last night, St. Louis beat Arizona in OT, 5-4. The Coyotes outscored the Blues 3-0 in the third period. This is a Blues’ team that has to be running on fumes and we have to question if they even give a rat’s ass about this game. With this being the last week of the regular season and with playoffs starting very soon, is it worth it to burn out for a lousy, meaningless game in Anaheim. Regardless, the price on the Ducks to win in regulation is preposterous and must be played.
