Vancouver +155 over Minnesota

8:05 PM EST. OT included. The Canucks are coming off an OT loss to Ottawa and while the market is only going to see that final score, that result does not do Vancouver justice. The Canucks so wholly dominated the puck possession battle (with a mind blowing CorsiFor% of 61.00) and dictated the pace of play the entire game. The Canucks are playing at a high level and have been for weeks.

To that point, the Wild are winners of five of their last six, including two straight, but you’ll have to forgive us for not getting too excited about victories over Montreal and San Jose (who were in the midst of a horrible losing streak). The Sharks actually outshot Minny in that game last Sunday night, but we suspect those taking a peek today don’t look much past the 5-4 final in favor of the Wild. It’s not that Minnesota has been playing poorly, but they’ve been a middle of the pack team in many underlying statistics. That’s what makes spotting such a huge price with them tonight too risky.

This game is far closer to a coin flip than the odds would have you believe. The Canucks are in a position to make a run at the Wild Card seeds in the Western Conference playoffs. Meanwhile, the Wild’s ticket is punched and other than a battle with St. Louis over second place in the Central, there isn’t much else to be done. We’re not suggesting the Wild are going to pack it in for the next 10 days or so, but we are going to suggest that at some point, they are going to move from a regular season mindset to one that is preparing for the meat grinder that is the Stanley Cup playoffs. Even if the Wild throw the kitchen sink at the Canucks tonight, Vancouver is well equipped to defend. The price here dictates the play.
