7:38 PM EST. Regulation only. Washington is 6-2-4 and market perception is that they’re a top-10 team. The Caps obviously have star power and they also bring one of the best pedigrees in the game over the past 15 years. That’s nice, it really is but there is nothing elite about this team. When they win, it’s almost always a case of them getting luckier than their opponent because they rarely outplay anyone. Even in their 5-3 victory over Buffalo on Tuesday, the Caps were outplayed badly, getting outshot, outchanced and outworked. Playing the 29th ranked Strength of Schedule (SOS), Washington is 1-5 against top-10 teams and 2-5 against top 16 teams.

The market has still not caught up to Detroit. The Red Wings are still underpriced to a large degree and we’ll continue to try and take advantage. Detroit’s 7-5-2 record is completely under the radar so let’s hope it remains there.

The Tyler Bertuzzi, Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin line is one of the best in the NHL but it’s not just that trio. The Red Wings are getting boosts from more spots in the lineup than they have since their glory days. Their getting stable goaltending and the defense is moving the puck out crisply and effectively.

On Tuesday, Edmonton entered Little Caesars Arena as the hottest teams in the NHL but for the better part of 60 minutes, the Red Wings put together a clinical performance that was not a fluke. This team is capable of beating anyone, especially inferior foes like the one they’ll face here.
