Detroit -½ +225 over MONTREAL

7:05 PM EST. Regulation only. They’ve played the most games in the NHL (10) and the Canadiens have two victories, which is the fewest in the Eastern Conference and third fewest in the league. One of those wins came against these Red Wings by a final score of 6-1. To that we say big deal. It happens. What’s not happening is the Canadiens excelling in any area and for the first time in a long time, their goaltending is unstable. Montreal returns home from what was supposed to be a somewhat easy trip to the West Coast with games in Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles and Anaheim. Easy it was not, as the Habs picked up two out of a possible eight points with the losses being by a combined score of 14-5 and only win occurring against the Sharks.

The market is still treating the Red Wings like dregs, which we’ll continue to try and take advantage of. Detroit has lost two in a row but so what. While the Habs were playing four extremely beatable teams, Detroit just locked horns with Washington, Florida and Toronto and could have easily won all three. They beat Washington, they lost to the 8-0-1 Panthers in OT and then lost to Toronto by one goal on Saturday, 5-4. Detroit has played the 12th toughest schedule in the league and they have a better record than Montreal who has played the 24th ranked schedule in the league. Huge value in Wings to win in regulation.
