Los Angeles -½ +280 over ST. LOUIS

8:05 PM EST. Regulation only. St. Louis had a beautiful season opener when they went into Colorado and beat the powerful Avs, 4-1. The next night, the Blues would lose 8-0. The Blue Notes would then return home to play San Jose and ended up splitting that two-game series, barely escaping with a 5-4 win in the first game and losing in OT in the second game. In Game 2, St. Louis was outshot, 38-23 by the Sharks. They were also outshot by Colorado 38-21 in that 8-0 defeat. If that’s not concerning in two out of four games, it should be. The Blue Notes have looked sloppy and disinterested for extended stretches and while we have no idea if they are going to wake up or not, the Kings are precisely the type of team that can pounce.

Los Angeles has very little expectations and less market appeal but don’t sleep on them. After four games, two against Minnesota and two against Colorado, the Kings are 1-3 but can easily be 4-0. They lost both games to the Wild in OT before losing to the Avs by one goal also. They have an impressive victory over the Avs too. The Kings held Colorado to under 26 shots on net in both games and that’s quite a remarkable feat in this day and age. The Kings have not looked a bit outclassed in any of its four games thus far and it came against two difficult teams to play against. L.A. is still an offensively challenged bunch but they are also a relentless bunch that plays hard on every shift and from what we have seen, St. Louis doesn’t look difficult to play against at all but don’t take our word for it, just ask the putrid Sharkies, who beat them once and probably should have beat them twice.
