9:08 PM EST. Regulation only. It’s no secret that we went 0-6 on Tuesday and that would make anyone gun shy but we have to stick with it. That means sticking with the Kings too. Last time out, we targeted L.A. at a great price in Vancouver and we ripped up our ticket in disgust after the entire game was played in Vancouver’s end. The Kings outchanced Vancouver 39-17, fired away 51 shots on net, held a massive edge in time in the offensive end and lost. There is not a fu**ing thing we can do about picking a great spot and losing other than sticking with it and we’ll say it again. The Kings are incredibly undervalued because of their poor record but they are a top-4 puck possession team that almost always wins the time of possession, shots on net and scoring chances. They lose because their own goaltending is so weak and that’s the gamble here. If L.A. gets adequate goaltending, they will win and if they don’t, they still might win.

Philadelphia has created fewer scoring chances than any team in the NHL over the past 10 game span. The Flyers have amassed 12, 15, 22. 20, 19, 11, 21 and 17 chances in seven of their last 10 games. They also rank 24th in puck possession numbers over the past month. The Kings are going to win the key battles here. They will have the puck more often in Philadelphia’s end, they’ll have more quality chances and overall scoring chances and they’ll also win the shots on net battle. We wish we could bet that but we cannot so we’ll settle with letting the chips fall where they may. Wrong side favored.
