Chicago -½ +275 over COLUMBUS

5:08 PM EST. Regulation only. The Jackets are hot with 11 out of a possible 12 points over their last six games but that good fortune has to run out soon. You see, the Jackets injury list is deep with as many as 10 regulars out, which include Cam Atkinson, Brandon Dubinsky, Oliver Bjorkstrand and three regular defensemen among others. Even with all the injuries, the Jackets are not an easy out because no team in the NHL tries harder but that doesn’t mean they’re not vulnerable. This is a team with a big chip on its shoulder but that chip could easily come off here because they’re expected to win.

Chicago was smoked by the Devils, 7-1 before the break and Jonathan Toews flipped out on his teammates. Ok, maybe flipped out is overstating it but Toews wasn’t having any more of it and let it be known. Chicago came off the break with a nice 5-2 over the Islanders. What sticks out to us is that the Blackhawks are drawing penalties while not taking many and that’s a good sign that the coach has them practicing with their sticks on the ice and is preaching discipline. Cheap and unnecessary penalties often are the difference but Chicago has had more PP’s than its opponent in seven straight games over which the Blackhawks have won five of those and lost just two. In what is close to a 50/50 shot, we’ll gladly take back this price for the Blackhawks to win in regulation against a depleted roster.
