ANAHEIM -½ +175 over Philadelphia

8:35 PM EST. Regulation only. Philadelphia cannot be favored in Anaheim. For one, the Flyers played last night, a late game no less, in San Jose and now they’ll travel to play in Anaheim at 5:30 PM local time. Aside from that, the Flyers are Jekyll and Hyde in terms of how they play at home as compared to on the road. The market will brush off Philadelphia’s loss last night because it’s just one game but let’s look at the entire picture. Philly had won four in a row prior to last night with three of those being blowout wins over the Rangers (5-1), Buffalo (6-1), and Anaheim (4-1). That’s a combined 15-3. The Flyers lone road game over that span was a 5-4 OT win in Ottawa. Philadelphia’s three prior road games before Ottawa was a 7-3 loss in Winnipeg, a 4-1 loss in Minnesota and a 3-1 loss in Colorado. That’s almost the exact opposite of what they were doing at home. Now throw in last night’s 6-1 loss in San Jose and the picture starts to become clearer. This is not a good situational spot for Philadelphia, they’ve been horrible on the road for a month or more and they’re forced to use their backup goaltender here.

The Ducks get little credit. We played them in Philadelphia in that aforementioned 4-1 loss but the scoring chances were 27-15 in favor of Anaheim. The Ducks rank 10th in puck-possession numbers over the past 30 days but because results play such an influencing role in determining prices, we get the Ducks at an absolute steal here.
