7:05 PM EST. Regulation only. St. Louis is 1-1 after losing its season opener against the Caps by a score of 3-2 (in OT) and then bouncing back and beating Dallas by that same score. The Blue Notes have been outplayed in both its games, they have five goals in two games and they have fallen behind in both games too. Are they overvalued because they’re the champs? Time will tell but we’re going to trust that we’re getting the Maple Leafs at a bargain here.

Forget that the Leafs lost on Saturday night. They were up 4-1 and it looked like they were going to put away the Habs rather easily. The fact that they lost just gives us an opportunity to buy them at a reduced rate here. The Leafs are a beast. They have drawn five minor penalties or more in each of their three games because they’re so quick and talented. St. Louis has drawn two penalties in each of its last two games. It’s not often that the Maple Leafs are going to be this small a price at home this year. They were -180 or thereabouts against the Canadiens on Saturday and today the dropoff is significant when the dropoff in competition is not. Another reason we get the Leafs at a discount today is because of their poor recent history against the Blues. Recency bias is a real thing and in that regard, Toronto is 0-6 versus the Blues in the past six meetings.
