3:00 PM EST. OT included. Of course Nashville can win this game, as they are the Nashville Predators with all that star-power on defense and some great offensive weapons too. They also play in a building that is one of the more difficult places in the league for a visitor to go into and steal a win. Then of course, the Preds feature one of the greatest goaltenders to ever play this game in Pekka Rinne, a netminder that steals games all on his own (at least that’s what the media says and then everyone else starts saying it too).

Pekka Rinne has been the difference in two games in this series. He stole Game 3 in Dallas when the Stars had 45 scoring chances to the Preds 27. For 60 minutes in Game 3, the Preds were under siege but escaped because pucks kept hitting Rinne in the chest. Rinne was the difference in Game 4 too, when Dallas buried four pucks on him in the first eight shots and none of those were deflected or screened. They were shots that beat Pekka Rinne cleanly and then he was yanked. Incidentally, it may surprise you to learn that no starting goalie in the NHL was yanked more times than Rinne was this season. Pekka Rinne looks great often because he’s fu**ing huge and takes up the entire net. Fact is, Rinne ranks 18th in the NHL in SV% on unblocked shots and 47th in xSave Percentage on Unblocked Shots. That puts in the same range as Malcolm Subban. Incidentally, Ben Bishop ranks first and second respectively in those two goaltender categories.

Nashville has been the better team in this series in one of the four games thus far. What we like about Dallas is that they seem to be getting more comfortable with each passing game. Suddenly, other guys besides Jamie Benn, Alexander Radulov, Tyler Seguin and John Klingberg are noticeable. The Stars second line with Roope Hintz, Jason Dickenson and Mats Zuccarello is creating nothing but havoc in the Preds end. Andrew Cogliano and the rest of the third line is creating too and Jason Spezza on the fourth line buried a beauty last game. Look, we have no idea what’s going to happen in this game but we know where the value lies. Nashville has been grossly overpriced this entire series at home because of the market presence that they have. It’s an even series at worst for Dallas and therefore they are the value play here to be sure. We trust Rinne as much as we trust gas station hot dogs. Go Stars!
