8:00 PM EST. OT included. If Maple Leafs fans were cautiously optimistic headed into Game 1, then the chance to go up 2-0 should surely have them on edge, as Beantown has been the sight of the Blue and White's recent postseason woes. There is an argument to be made that Toronto has already accomplished all it needed to by stealing a victory on the Bruins home ice, but when you consider the Game 7 skeletons in their closet, the Maple Leafs may want more here. We have not seen any indications that the Leafs are complacent with one win. The Leafs haven't won the opening round of a series in over 15 years, but a 4-1 stamp on Thursday night showed that while they aren't as "gritty" as the Bruins, they can skate circles around them. The speed the Leafs bring to the table was on full display in Game 1 and can be summed up in one play after Mitch Marner was hauled down while killing a penalty and he scored on the subsequent penalty shot to change the tide of the game. In the fight game, speed beats power and the same could be said in today's NHL.

The B's will likely have to shake up their lineup tonight, as Jake DeBrusk, who coughed up the puck and then took down Marner, did not practice after crashing into the boards on that fateful play. Even before the injury, the Bruins were mucking with their lines, as they sat David Backes in favor of Karson Kuhlman because of his speed, but the vet was back on the third line yesterday, which suggests head coach Bruce Cassidy is already scrambling to find his team’s right formula. Cassidy also sold out his inexperienced defense after it struggled in Game 1, which is sure to be good for its confidence. "On the back end, we have some younger guys that are still sorting their way through playoffs - so there could have been some nerves.” The Bruins top line of Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak was shut down and Leafs coach Mike Babcock praised John Tavares for playing a two-way game, "Tavares is really committed to playing without the puck since he arrived." When comparing coaching IQs, there is no discussion, as "Babs" is hockey royalty that has won at every level. If the Leafs get beat tonight, it's not going to be because they were out coached.

This is not the same Leafs’ squad as last year. They played a beautiful road playoff game in Game 1 and we expect nothing less tonight. Toronto brings confidence, momentum and perhaps most importantly, the Leafs planted a huge seed of doubt in the minds of the Bruins. That’s what Babcock’s Cup winning teams in Detroit did and that’s what the Leafs did in Game 1. Once again, we’ll turn to the true value here.
