10:05 PM EST. OT included. We played against Dallas on Thursday in Edmonton and lost that game 3-2 after the Oilers outshot the Stars, 44-22. We cited the difficult spot for Dallas and we weren’t wrong but the puck didn’t bounce our way and this now becomes a case of “sticking with it”.

After receiving some more help from the NHL scoreboard on Friday night, the Stars have a big opportunity at hand here. While wrapping up a four-game road trip, the Stars could also secure a spot in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a win. Only two Western Conference spots are still up for grabs but Dallas has a 99.9 chance to get in so one can safely predict that Dallas is inevitably in. Locking it up is a formality now but it has been said before that the clinching game is the most elusive of them all. Dallas has been playing hard and working harder to secure its playoff position so they have earned it but we have to wonder how much they’ll have left in them here. You see, this is the Stars fourth road game in six days on this Western Canada trip and it’s also the Stars fifth game in eight days, sixth in 10, and seventh in 12.

If there is one thing am “also-ran” hates more than missing the playoffs is having a team clinch a spot on their home ice. The Canucks are a pesky team that will do everything in their power to prevent that from happening here. Rested and playing at home, the Canucks are the perfect underdog tonight to get behind tonight because Dallas’ stock is soaring and they’re overpriced here in an unfavorable spot.
