10:35 PM EST. Regulation only. We faded the Blue Notes last night and are always mindful of not to “zig-zag”, thus we are certainly aware of that. However, what sticks out to us is once again how much credit the Kings continue to get from this market when they don’t deserve it. At the end of the day, it’s still all about value, which is what this wager is all about.

St. Louis was a -180 favorite in Anaheim last night and now they’re 40 cents less (at the time of this writing) against these dregs? If anything, St. Louis should be priced higher, not lower. L.A. is the NHL’s most beatable team because they have next to nothing. They are weak offensively, they’re paying a weak goaltender to play so that goaltender (Quick) gets the bulk of the starts and they play not to lose instead of to win. Of the 68 qualified goaltenders in the NHL, Quick ranks 67th in Goals Saved Above Average (GSAA). Hopefully Quick starts again here. Analytically, L.A. ranks bottom two or three in every offensive metric and beyond. They have at least 12 guys on their roster that wouldn’t have a job on 95% of the teams in this league.

The Blues are playing back-to-back here, which may be the reason they’re priced lower but it matters not, as they had been off since Saturday before last night’s game. Fatigue is not even close to being an issue here. In fact, the Blues will likely be more energized tonight after a near miracle win last night. Another reason the Blues might be priced lower here than in Anaheim is because this market believes that Jordan Binnington is a better option in goal for the Blues than Jake Allen is. Binnington played last night, therefore Allen plays tonight. We couldn’t be happier because Allen is the better of the two and will be the Blues playoff goalie once the postseason rolls around, Binnington got hot for a while but has been brutally awful in back-to-back starts and in three of his last five starts with save percentages of .852, .850 and .833 respectively. Finally, Brayden Schenn and Michael Del Zotto returned to the Blues lineup and played last night and now both have that one game under their belt. That also matters. St. Louis is the bargain of the day and we’re all over it.
