1:00 PM EST. Regulation only. The Devils are coming off a 2-1 OT loss to the Islanders and to the Devils credit, it was a game effort. The Devils rank 30th out of 31 teams in Corsi For % during five-on-five play over the past six weeks. The Devils are 2-3 out the break both both wins were a fluke after they allowed 39 and 40 shots against to Pittsburgh and Montreal respectively. We also like that the Devils will host Carolina tomorrow and may put more emphasis on that game because the ‘Canes are an East rival while they rarely see the Wild. A goaltender has not been announced but we’ll hope it’s Corey Schneider back in goal. If not, we’ll fade Schneider tomorrow while gladly fading Keith Kinkaid and this extremely beatable host here.
Minnesota has lost four straight so their stock is sinking. A 4-1 loss to the Oilers last game out surely isn’t sitting well with the players in this market but again, those are just results and not performances. At one point in the second period, Minnesota was outshooting Edmonton 12-1. They ended up outshooting them 36-23. The game prior, in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Sabres, Minnesota fired away 45 shots on net. Bruce Boudreau coached teams rarely go on extended losing streaks. Minnesota is not playing poorly, they are just getting poor goaltending right now but goaltending runs hot and cold. The Wild are even more determined with Mikko Koivu lost for the season and in the two games that he’s missed since being injured, the Wild have played two great games with two losses to show for it. Expect them to dig down even deeper here and snap the unlucky funk that they’re in.
Update: Schenider starts (whoo hoo)!
