10:35 PM EST. We love that Jonathan Quick is coming off a perceived great effort against the Hurricanes in the Kings’ 2-0 victory because that means that Quick will be back in goal tonight. Quick got very lucky on a bunch of chances that either bounced off his skate or knob of his stick. The Hurricanes hit three goal posts and on a couple of other point-blank chances, they shot it over the top of the net. A shutout is still a shutout and Quick is still a highly regarded goaltender in this market. Both work to our advantage here, as L.A. is still the league’s most beatable team and become even more beatable with Quick in goal. L.A. is last in scoring chances and last in bottom three in several other offensive categories. The Kings leading scorer, Anze Kopitar has a 17 points in 26 games and their third leading scorer, Ilya Kovalchuk (14 points) is out.

Coyotes goaltender Adin Hill was named the NHL’s second star of the week after compiling a 3-0-0 record to go with a 0.43 goals allowed average and a .983 save percentage over that span. Not enough can be said about Hill’s contributions to the Coyotes during their current three-game win streak. The 22-year-old entered Tuesday’s game in Minnesota with a 3-1 deficit and held strong while his teammates rallied for a 4-3 win. He notched his first career shutout in a 3-0 win in Nashville Thursday. And he continued his success as the Coyotes raced to a 6-1 rout of the St. Louis Blues Saturday. In a tough situation where the Coyotes were without their two top goaltenders, Hill provided a spark for a club that was falling fast. Now almost a week removed from the Minnesota game, they seem to be taking flight instead. We’ll go with the hot hand too but more than that is our continued fade on the rancid Kings, who are the least worthy favorite in the league.
