The Sens were getting heavily faded early in the year but then they started winning some significant games, capped off by Saturday’s resounding 6-4 victory over Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh scored a meaningless late goal in that one. The Sens have won two in a row, four of six and have scored six goals or more in three of those games. Ottawa’s stock has not been higher than it is right now and at least for this one game, that makes them a pretty good fade target here.

By contrast, Florida’s stock is sinking, as they have dropped two in a row while allowing 11 goals against. That sets this one up nicely for the Panthers, as they had previously won five in a row while allowing just seven goals against over that span. Like always, the wins and losses have all been about goaltending. Florida lost to Columbus 7-3 but outshot the Jackets, 43-37. They lost to the Rangers last game, 4-2, but outshot them, 41-24. The Panthers have been outshooting and out-chancing a high majority of their opponents lately and if Roberto Luongo is adequate here, there is a great chance that the Panthers will emerge victorious. You see, the Panthers will now face the worst Corsi For team in the NHL. The Sens rank dead last in xGA/60 and they rank 24th in xGF/60 and that my friends is not a winning combination. We now trust we’re getting the Panthers at a true bargain price because of a handful of recent results.
