9:00 PM EST. Regulation only. The Golden Knights are coming off a 6-3 win in Edmonton, but we'd argue they benefited greatly by picking the bones off that Oilers carcass after the Flames had feasted the night before. Two straight wins have Vegas on the uptick, but its other victory in that stretch came against the lowly Ducks in a game that the Knights were outshot in 29-25, but won 5-0, so forgive us if we're not impressed. Marc-Andre Fleury got the start yesterday in Edmonton and so it is expected that Malcolm Subban will get the nod tonight. For as bad as MAF has been this season, Subban is worse and is ranked 58th in save percentage, 45th in goals-against average and he has zero quality starts in three attempts this season.

The Flames stock is low after they dropped two of their last three games, but as long as Mike Smith is on the bench, Calgary is going to be worth a look. The Flames are great, as they don't get outworked or outshot very often, but because they are paying Mike Smith a pretty penny, they've been playing him far more often than they should. It's understandable, as there are a number of teams that are desperate for goaltending and if Smith could string together a couple of good games, the phone in general manager Brad Treliving's office just might ring. In his latest showcase, Smith was poor in a 3-2 loss to the Canadiens last Thursday night, which might have been the last time we see him for a while. Young David Rittich got the nod against the Oilers in a high profile Saturday night game on Hockey Night in Canada and he did not disappoint in Calgary's 4-2 victory. The 26-year-old Czech has been dubbed "Big Save Dave" by the vocal Flames followers on Twitter and there is no debate that he gives Calgary a chance to win every time he takes the crease. "Rita" has been named the starter for tonight's game against Vegas and so we must try to take advantage of this enormous goaltending mismatch. Bet goaltenders in hockey like you would starting pitchers in baseball.
