10:35 PM EST. The San Jose Sharks are considered to be one of the elite teams in this league and by the end of the season that might be true but there are problems throughout, most notably in goal, where Martin Jones continues to fight the puck. We started to see declining numbers in Jones’ game last season and they have carried over into this year. His SV% and GSAA rank him 49th and 43rd respectively. The Sharks are coming off a roller-coaster game against Nashville in which they built up a quick 3-0 lead before crashing and falling behind 4-3 with 10 minutes left in the game. San Jose would them score two more in the final 10 minutes to win it. While the Sharks have strong analytic numbers, weak goaltending is preventing them from winning more games and they will now have to face a team full of snipers after an emotional win and they’ll also face a goaltender that been tough as shoe leather against them.

Frederik Andersen has a .938 SV% this year. Since joining the Leafs in 2016, Andersen holds a .947 save percentage against San Jose, along with a 1.93 goals against average. The fact that that is somehow paired with a 1-2-1 record speaks to a Toronto team with much less firepower than this one boasts. Furthermore, the Leafs are 7-0-0 when scoring first this season, 7-0-0 when leading after one period and 9-0-0 when leading after two frames. If Toronto gets a lead, and one has to like their chances of doing so, they have proven to be very difficult to beat. The Maple Leafs have only played three games this year against top-10 competition and they are 2-1 in those games with the latest being a 2-1 loss to Boston but the Leafs outshot and out-chanced the Bruins. They’re also coming off a 5-1 victory in in L.A. on Tuesday in a game they didn’t even break a sweat in. At the end of the day, Toronto is too good to be passing up on when they are priced in this range, especially when the opposition’s goaltending is so unstable.
