10:35 PM EST. Regulation only. The Kings are 5-10-1 and are now forced to turn to their 3rd string goaltender, Peter Budaj, to bail them out of a big hole. That’s unlikely to happen on Mike Babcock’s watch. You see the Kings are 5-10-1 for more reasons that just unstable goaltending. In this era, teams’ need at least three things to compete, goaltending, speed and balance of which the Kings have none of the above. Sure they have some talent but doesn’t every team? In that regard, the Kings not only lack talent, they just don’t seem to want it bad enough.

If two guys go into the corner at the exact same time, which player is going to emerge with the puck? The answer is always the player that wants it more and we can apply that to the Maple Leafs. The Leafs need no introductions. They are quick, talented and they rarely get outworked. The Maple Leafs want it and we absolutely love that they’re coming off an undeserving 5-1 loss in Boston. The Leafs fired away 41 shots in that game and will now continue their four-game trip against perhaps the NHL’s most beatable team and against a third string goalie that has played 30 minutes this season. The Kings are 0-5 against top-10 competition and 1-9 against top-16. Bargain of the day here.
