7:05 PM EST. With #97 on the ice, the Oilers always have a chance to win. Edmonton is coming off a loss last time out, but that 5-2 final from Tampa is a little misleading, as the Oilers did go shot-for-shot with the Bolts, but backup Mikko Koskinen wasn't able to keep his hot streak up. Koskinen had been 3-0 before that start and number one Cam Talbot loves that he'll get more time to be rested and ready to go, "A couple of nights off won't hurt anybody. I knew coming into this season that they would be taking the number of my games down. I'd like to play 60 or 65 games, but it's great to have two good goalies." Talbot will be back between the pipes and some friendly competition in net might be the best thing for these him and his teammates.

The Panthers are getting pounded by the market and we can see the appeal. Under the hood, Florida has the goods, as it is a quality puck possession team (seventh), but it couldn't find even adequate goaltending. With the return of Roberto Luongo, the Panthers now have a goalie the market knows and thinks it can trust, but we're not ready to buy in quite yet. There is a lot to dislike about Florida tonight the least of which is that it has played two games in the last 12 days and they were both a week ago and happened to take place on the other side of the Atlantic. We were one of the first to exploit the "bye-week" angle when the NHL instituted that policy and the market and pundits soon followed along. With the Panthers and Jets both returning from Finland after a long break before and after the NHL Global Series, we're looking to exploit that disruptive schedule. Earlier this season, the Oilers went to Europe to start their season and it arguably left them flat when they returned to North America. Edmonton has since recovered, but expecting the Panthers to be any different would be irresponsible. We'll gladly take back an inflated price with Connor McDavid in our back pocket just about every time, but this situational play provides us with a huge overlay that we are not going to miss. Incidentally. Florida is winless at home and you can absolutely expect the stands to be filled mostly by Canadians wanting to see Connor McDavid play. That can't can't hurt our chances either.
