The Bruins are 7-3-2, but they appear to be flying a little under the radar. There has been some goaltender drama, as Jaroslav Halak has had a red-hot start to his season and is making the case to be the starter over Tuukka Rask. Halak is fifth in save percentage and third in goals-against average among the 66 qualifying netminders that have taken the crease this season. Halak had a couple of down years with the Islanders, but appears to be rejuvenated in Boston. He and Rask have split the starts so far (7-6), but the Bruins will ride Halak's hot hand here after he stopped 42-shots in a win over the Hurricanes. Despite going up against the reigning Vezina winner, Halak has a great shot to be the better goalie on the ice again tonight.

The Predators are making headlines after getting off to their best start in franchise history. Nashville is first place in the standings with a league-best 10 wins. A +16 goal differential is also tops in the NHL, but you can take all of that and throw it out the window because a correction is coming. Nashville scored four goals on just 24 shots the other night in Tampa, while the Lightning fired 43 on the returning Pekka Rinne. Rinne was light's out while Andrei Vasilevskiy had a rare bad game. That was the story of that game like it is on so many other games. He who has the hot goaltender wins. The Preds will need to rely on Rinne because they are in the habit of giving up more shots than their opponents after being outgunned in five of their last seven games. Nashville has also spent a ton of time on the road already this season and instead of settling in for a nice home slate here, this game tonight against the Bruins is a one-off before they head back out on a grueling five-game, 10-day Western road trip because the Country Music Association Awards will take over Bridgestone Arena like it does every year. There is no rest for the weary and we're betting the Bs can catch the Preds catching their breath today.
