10:05 PM EST. The Avs played last night in Calgary and scored five times on 21 shots on net. They lost 6-5 but that game was a flattering score to the Avs, as Calgary controlled that game from the puck drop. The Avs will now play back-to-back again after perhaps the most grueling schedule in the league thus far. Colorado has played eight of 13 on the road so this will be its ninth road game in 14 overall contests. They recently had a four-game trip to the East Coast that ended Oct 23rd in Philly and now they are currently playing its third straight on the road after stops in Minnesota and Calgary. That game in Minnesota last Saturday was the tail end of back-to-backs after they hosted the Sens on Friday. This is not only the Avs ninth road game in 14 games played this season, it will also be the second time in a week playing back-to-backs and traveling. The icing on the cake is that Colorado is not a strong possession team, as they rank 26th out of 31 teams in Corsi For % during five on five play and they were chasing the puck for 60 minutes last night. Finally, after this game, the Avs will have five days off so that is likely at the front of their minds too after such an exhausting schedule to start the year.

The Canucks just keep getting better and more confident with each passing game. There is something very good going on in Vancouver but the best part is that not many are witnessing it because outside of that region, nobody is watching. Jacob Markstrom looks solid in goal. Elias Pettersson is a massive talent that is almost a shoo-in for Rookie of the Year. He’s that good. Brock Boeser and Bo Horvat are two more great talents that don’t get the recognition they deserve. Jake Virtanen is getting better and threatens to score more than once every single game. They have a strong core of puck-moving D-men and they can’t wait to get back on the ice after two wins in a row to run its record to 8-6. Vancouver has its flaws but this is a great spot for them to keep it going. The Canucks are wrongly being billed as the dog once again so we are risking the full 2 units on them spotting a half puck.
