7:35 PM EST. Regulation only. The Preds are 9-3 but they are 5-0 on the road and remain the last undefeated team on the road. Not only is their road record completely unsustainable, it’s also misleading. Nashville’s 9-3 overall record is also misleading. In four of its last five games and six of their last eight, the Preds have recorded 29 shots on net or fewer but are scoring on a unsustainable percentage of those shots. And it’s not like they are playing a bunch of defensive stalwarts either, as they have faced Edmonton twice during that span along with the Islanders, Flames and Devils among others. The Preds have one lousy scoring line and a strong defense with average goaltending. That’s not enough to be winning nine of 12 games and there is no question that goals will be hard to come by here against one of the league’s absolute best goaltenders.

Andrei Vasilevskiy continues to be a top-3 goaltender in just about every single metric for the second year in a row and while the Preds are firing away 29 shots or less almost every game, it’s not uncommon for the Bolts to be firing away 40 shots on net or more. Tampa is a powerhouse of a team and in this market and because of their record and past two year pedigree, the Preds are considered a powerhouse too. However, we’re not on board with he Preds being an upper-tier team based on their weak secondary scoring and average goaltending. We now get the Bolts at a bargain price in their own barn because of Nashville’s 5-0 record and it’s a bet we would make 100% of the time.
