While we bet against the Avalanche last night, they were in a much different role than the one they are being asked to play today, as they move from a huge favorite to taking back a very nice price here against the Wild. For the record, Colorado did start slow in that game with the Senators and it was down 2-0 and 3-1 before blowing the doors off the barn in the third period. That the Avs didn’t just lay down and die when they were pushed was a good sign and they have enough firepower to turn any game around at the flick of a switch. Colorado can score in bunches, as it proved last night with Mikko Rantanen leading the way with a goal and three helpers. Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog weren't too shabby either, as each added a marker and a pair of apples. The Avs feature one of the best lines in the game and they are capable of scoring on anyone.

A team like Colorado is the last group the Wild want to see before they head out on a huge roadie. Minnesota started the season slow with a 4-1 loss to these Avs in the Mile High City, but since then it has been near flawless, especially at Xcel Energy Center where it is 4-0-2. Minny has won four straight, which combined with their built-in standing in the market has them way overpriced here. When these two teams played on the second night of the season, the Wild were outshot badly 40-21. Even though Minnesota is getting the results, if you watched them against the Kings on Thursday night, you know that they were fortunate to win that game. The 4-1 final score is one of the most deceiving of the season. The Wild had to white-knuckle three penalties in the last 7:30 while clinging to a one-goal lead. A pair of empty-netters in the last minute made it look like Minny was dominant when it was not. When these teams met in Colorado the Wild were given enough respect to be a pick 'em. The Avs are a much better team and should be given the same consideration in a similar spot, but they are not.
