9:05 PM EST. The Senators were supposed to be basement dwellers this season, but after trading their number one pick to Colorado for Matt Duchene in that three-team blockbuster deal last season, there is no reason to tank even with a "next big thing" skater like Jack Hughes on the board. The Sens are 4-3-1 to start the season. The spunky Sens are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Bruins, but that final score was very misleading, as Ottawa outplayed them for most of that game and even outshot them. At the end of the day, as is usually the case, the B's got the goaltending they needed while the Senators did not. On most nights, Ottawa is going to be a tough out and it has proven as much so far here in 2018-19. A team that plays this hard cannot be priced in this range when it has a legit shot to win.

This is Colorado's second game back after a long road trip and while they indeed came to play in a tightly contested 1-0 loss against Tampa Bay on Wednesday night, this one might be a little harder to get up for. On paper, the Avs are loaded with young studs and their 6-2-2 record to start the season is impressive, but they are just the 22nd ranked puck possession team in the league, which means some regression could be coming. The Avs have significantly benefitted from their special teams, but that well eventually dries up and when it does, they could be in real trouble, as they are not generating enough high-quality scoring chances. Colorado is 25th in those high dangers situations. We'd hate to call anyone "lucky," but that the Avs also rank third in PDO, which can be used to see who's is getting the bounces and in that regard, the ice has undoubtedly been tilted in Colorado's direction in the early going. The Avalanche are good, no doubt, but they are priced as if they are an upper-tier team and we're not ready to crown them that just yet.

Therefore:

OT included - Ottawa +180 for 1 unit.

Regulation only - Ottawa -½ +300 for 1 unit.
