3:35 PM EST. The Sabres went into San Jose in the first game of their West Coast trip and lost 5-1. The Sabres were down two goals four minutes into that game but scored one and that 2-1 score held for quite some time before the superior Sharks pulled away. Buffalo is now 3-4 and will take a step down in class here. In fact, we’re suggesting that we’re getting the better team here at a ludicrous price.

The Kings are 2-4-1 but have played Ottawa, the Islanders and Detroit and were the second best team on the ice in all three. The return of Jonathan Quick to the lineup (last game) has the Kings rated higher in this market than they should be, as Quick is no longer elite and has been trending down for years, much like an old starting pitcher with declining skills. Like the team he plays for, Quick is slow, banged up and not very good anymore. L.A. is coming off a 7-2 loss to the Islanders and Drew Doughty took issue with his coach's assessment after that loss

Kings coach John Stevens felt his team "stopped playing" in the blowout loss, but Doughty disagrees. "I don’t like that assessment," Doughty said. "We didn’t stop playing. We were still trying our hardest out there, so I don’t like that assessment at all. But we definitely gave the game away after that goal. It was still only 4-2, we still could have come back after that point. I don’t agree with that assessment because I think we were trying our asses off, as always."

So, let us get this straight…...The team didn’t quit and lost 7-2? They were playing their asses off and lost 7-2? Perhaps Doughty should have agreed with the coach or was Doughty indirectly calling out Quick? Either way it does not matter because the Kings are not close to being good enough to be priced in this range and the Sabres have a history of playing well with these players on their West Coast swing.
