NHL 2018/19. This season our approach is going to be a little different than regular readers are accustomed to. Whenever we’re playing an underdog, the bet will be split into two parts. We’re playing the underdog -½ +money for 1 unit and we’ll also play them with OT included for 1 unit. The take-backs are so high and offer so much value that over time, playing this way will benefit us.

8:00 PM EST. The Blues may be going through a bit of an adjustment period and a lot of that has to do with the significant turnover they've had in their forward group, with half of their top 12 from last season now skating on to greener pastures. More importantly than that, however, is that goaltender Jake Allen is already off his rocker again this season. Allen's .818 save percentage is second worst among the 45 goalies that have played some time so far here in 2018-19 and his 4.70 goals against average have him grouped with the likes of Cam Ward and Brian Elliott. The Blues safety net from last year, Carter Hutton, is also gone, as he is trying his hand as the starter in Buffalo. Blues coach Mike Yeo seems to have it all figured out though, "It's just a matter of us figuring out how long we want it to take before we decide if we want to be a good team or be a team that plays the game without purpose." While he and the Blues try to decide whether or not they are any good, we’ll take this opportunity to get behind a team that is good and knows it.

The Flames have one of the hottest lines in the league, as it appears that Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan have finally found their man on the right side in Elias Lindholm. That trio accounted for all of the Flames goals the other night in a 3-0 win at Nashville and they've put up eight goals and 16 points in Calgary’s three games to start the season. The Flames are off the radar after missing the playoffs last season, but they are a tough out and that offseason trade they made with Carolina that shipped Dougie Hamilton and Micheal Ferland out and brought Lindholm and Noah Hanifin in looks pretty good right now. It doesn't hurt that new coach Bill Peters was very familiar with both players, as he was the bench boss with the Hurricanes up until the end of last season. Peters preached puck possession while with the 'Canes and this season, the Flames are seventh in Corsi For %. Calgary absolutely dominated the Canucks in that home-and-home series to start the season, but it split those games. It's hard to win when you don't convert your powerplay chances and the Flames were 0-7 in that opening night loss in Vanny, but they have gone 5-of-10 since. Calgary will turn away from Mike Smith tonight and give young David Rittich a shot between the pipes, which tells you what high regard Peters has for the kid. There are no games scheduled tomorrow night and it would have been easy to turn back to Smith after he shutout Nashville on Tuesday night. Take note, Rittich will be the Flames starter sooner than later but for now, we’re very interested in the Flames as an underdog no matter who is in net because they’re an elite team that is not priced as such.

Therefore:

OT included - Calgary +113 for 1 unit.

Regulation only Calgary -½ + 169 for 1 unit.
