7:05 PM EST. This season our approach is going to be a little different than regular readers are accustomed to. Whenever we’re playing an underdog, the bet will be split into two parts. We’re playing the underdog -½ +money for 1 unit and we’ll also play them with OT included for 1 unit. The take-backs are so high and offer so much value that over time will benefit us.

7:00 PM EST. Regulation only. Suspect goaltending will do just about any team in and the Sharks are no exception after starter Martin Jones has struggled to begin the 2018-19 campaign. Jones ranks 32nd in save percentage and 25th in goals against average through three games, but he'll get a break tonight and that has us looking to step in with Aaron Dell taking Jones' place the crease. The Sharks were shut out yesterday afternoon 4-0 in what was essentially a 10:30 AM start for them, so we're not going to punish them too much for that poor result because the effort was there despite the lopsided final score. The Sharks outshot the Islanders 35-30, just as they did in their games against the Kings (33-21) and Ducks (33-15) respectively. Although the sample size is small, the Sharks are dictating the pace of play, but are not seeing the results. San Jose is the top Corsi For % team in the NHL, but have a league-worst PDO, which is an indicator of some terrible luck. A 0-10 run on the power play to start the season is going to get a ton of chatter as well, but that fortune is bound to turn eventually, as those breaks even out over time.

For the Flyers, Monday was a bad day at the office even though they didn't play a game. James Van Riemsdyk, who was Philadelphia's big offseason signing was ruled out for six weeks after he was injured blocking a shot on Saturday night in Colorado. The Flyers split their two games out west to start the season after defeating the Golden Knights 5-2 and then falling to the Avs by that same margin. The loss of JVR will get the headlines, but the story in Philly, like always, will be goaltending and as long as Brian Elliot is between the pipes, the Flyers are fade material when they are the betting favorite. The Flyers are a bottom third team in Cprsi For %, but unlike the Sharkies, have been very fortunate the pucks are going in the net. We’ll now get the superior team at a small price and we get to fade a weak goaltender in the process. This one checks all the boxes.

Therefore:

OT included - San Jose +101 for 1 unit.

Regulation only San Jose -½ + 157 for 1 unit.

Also, just like in baseball and every sport, there is a great chance will be adding a bunch of late add-ons to our slate of games after dinner and we’ll be sure to tweet them out when we do.
