Game 2 - posted at 10:45 AM EST.

8:00 PM EST.  OT included. Lost in all the hype about Marc-Andre Fleury's four playoff shutouts have been the multiple subpar performances he turned in against San Jose. Fleury was awful in Game 3 after blowing a two-goal lead in the third period despite his team bouncing back to get the win in overtime and he was even worse in a 3-0 loss in Game 4. As long as Fleury has been playing in the playoffs, he's been like Jekyll and Hyde between the pipes and in no way are we going to trust him to outplay Connor Hellebuyck here or at any time during these playoffs. The Knights are quick, talented and they’ll probably be a bit better than they were last game but what they are not is the Jets’ equal. The Vegas Knights were not better against San Jose but won that series because Martin Jones was ordinary and they are not superior to the Jets and Vegas also has the second best goaltender in this series. That matters. A lot.

The Winnipeg whiteout might look really impressive on television, but outside of the eye of the storm in Southern Manitoba, nobody knows or cares about who these Jets really are. In Game 1, the Jets were as dominant as any team could be in the opening few minutes of that game and established a 3-0 lead early before going up 4-1 in the second period and finally settling for the 4-2 victory, but that score totally flatters the guests. Winnipeg had a better than 3-1 ratio in high danger scoring chances 5-on-5 and it dictated the pace of play throughout that game. The Jets were the much faster team even though it was Vegas who was supposed to be the speedier side. That fact is even more impressive when you consider the Jets have played hockey nearly every other night for 2½ weeks with their only extended break coming between Games 6 and 7 versus Nashville because of a Justin Timberlake concert. There was no rest for the Jets following that Game 7 win, as the team flew home, practiced and took the ice Saturday night. For the Jets to be priced as they were in Game 1 is a market inefficiency we are surely going to attempt to take advantage of. Don Cherry said after the Jets win in Game 1 that he didn't think they had played their best game and he was right. Winnipeg is being disrespected here once again, but do not sleep on the Jets any longer. This is an absolute juggernaut of a team without a weakness and with the least amount of flaws among any team left standing. We mentioned above that Vegas will probably be better tonight but so what, Winnipeg will probably be better too.
