10:05 PM EST. Regulation Only. Since getting their doors blown off 7-0 in Game 1, the Sharks have been the better team in this series despite splitting a pair of overtime games and trailing 2-1. San Jose outshot the Golden Knights 47-29 in Vegas in Game 2 and again 42-33 in Game 3 at the Shark Tank Monday night. Even though they have dictated the pace of play, the Sharkies are once again being offered up at a supreme discount. The line between these two teams appears to be razor thin with four of their seven meetings going to overtime while two others were decided by two goals or less.

Vegas wrote another chapter in its fairytale season on Monday night after edging out the Sharks in a 4-3 overtime thriller. We are not here to take anything away from the incredible season the Golden Knights have put together, but at what point is the other glass slipper going to drop? The media and many in the market were prepared to crown Vegas after that lopsided Game 1 victory, but just as the hype train hit high gear, these last two games have been much more competitive. However, you are still paying a premium to back the Knights who closed at -156 in Game 1 and -185 in Game 2 at Pinnacle. On the road in Game 3, Vegas was taking back just +111 and it is similarly priced tonight. Meanwhile, the Sharks were much bigger dogs in Sin City and provided some true value. The discrepancy between the Knights and Sharks isn't nearly as wide as market would have you believe, but Vegas has become the most popular team in sports these days and the price is a reflection of that. It’s not about predictions, as we are very aware that the Knights can win again and go up 3-1. It’s about value and while the value play doesn’t always win (see last game among others), we have to stick with the process. Again, in a very evenly matched series in which San Jose has been the better team in two of three games, there cannot be such a big discrepancy Between Vegas’ price at home and San Jose’s price at home. As long as the Golden Knights are going to be priced like the '87 Oilers, we have to respond.
