Updated series pick – Toronto +264 over BOSTON
7:00 PM EST. Two big reasons the Bruins rolled in Game 1 were the fact they had the superior goaltending and the better special teams. That is a very tough combination to beat. Boston looked pretty much unstoppable, but three of their goals all came on the powerplay. The Bruins also benefitted greatly on their first goal, as the Leafs failed to challenge what appeared to be a clear offsides on the Bs. That powerplay goal set the tone for the entire game. If that marker was overturned, it could have been a much different evening for all involved.
The suspension to Nazem Kadri looms large over the Leafs, as they try to get back into this series after a 5-1 loss in Boston on Thursday night. On paper, Toronto was dominated in time of possession and by the time Kadri's attempted murder of Tommy Wingels came in the third period the train was off the tracks. The Leafs will have to do some line juggling in Kadri's absence. Leo Komorov skated on the top line with Auston Matthews and William Nylander, while Zach Hyman moved down to Kadri's spot with Mich Marner and Patrick Marleau with the latter moving to center from the wing. With Kadri's 32-goals out of the lineup and a lopsided decision in Game 1, the Leafs are going to be a tough bet for many, but we are going to come right back on them tonight. However, rather than take the +152 being offered here we will make another series bet on the Maple Leafs at +264, so even if they lose today, we'll still have the safety net of two games in Toronto to get back to even.
