We backed the new look Rags that night but we will not let up, as they continue to take back inflated prices. The market perception is that the Rangers have thrown in the towel, but the chance to pile on a division rival who is about to lose its franchise player might be enough to keep them going for at least one more night. Regardless, this play has little to do with the Rags, as we are all about fading the Islanders in this spot and taking back some value in the process. The Rangers are loaded with young talent and they are not just going through the motions. They come to play.

The Isles are coming off a huge 5-4 win over the Flyers, which prevented Philly from clinching a playoff spot on their watch. It's been written today that motivation for the non-playoff bound Islanders will come from an opportunity to sweep the season series with their cross-town rivals, but that recent dominance only helps to overvalue the home side. Spotting a number like this with whoever the Isles decide to send use in goal tonight (Halak confirmed) is not a bet we can recommend making. It the three prior meetings between these two teams this season, the Islanders were +111, +122 and -130. As the betting favorites in their most recent contest, the Islanders were outplayed and outshot 50-35 in a 3-0 home win. It's not like the Islanders are setting the world on fire either with just three wins in their last 10. The dark cloud of John Tavares' impending departure also looms large, as he's been forced to answer the question about his future almost every day. His latest response wasn't exactly the most inspiring, "I hope it all works out, too, and I'm back as well". This is likely the captain’s last game in Brooklyn, as he heads to unrestricted free agency on July 1st. The Isles had their fun in what was their last meaningful game against Philly and finish out the season on the road in Detroit. Weak goaltending with no motivation does not equal spotting a price like this.
