7:05 PM EST. OT included. Sometimes one just has to plug their nose and hope for the best and this is a case of that. The New York Rangers are not good enough to be favored in his range against anyone and that’s all there is to it. Furthermore, it’s a rare day when the Rangers don’t give up three goals and usually four or more. In fact, the Blue Shirts have allowed three or more goals in 15 of their past 17 games and four or more in 10 of those 17. This team is a massive risk spotting prices like this and therefore the frustrating to bet on Sabres must be played.
Buffalo is coming off a three-game losing streak at home to Nashville, Arizona and Montreal last night and they were outscored over that span by a count of 11-1. That’s ugly on paper but none of their three performances on the ice were ugly. Buffalo won the Corsi battle in all three games, over Montreal, 48-32, over Arizona, 51-42 and over Nashville, 58-56. It’s really a case of very bad luck for the Sabres but it could also be a case of them gripping their sticks a little tighter at home, where they have the worst home record in the NHL. Remarkably, the Sabres scored one goal on 100 shots on net over the above mentioned last three losses for a shooting percentage of 1%. That’s so very unlucky. No deflections in, not a single bounce off a leg, shoulder, arm or skate, no soft goals and no anything else for Buffalo but getting back on the road should loosen them up somewhat. Buffalo is not playing poorly but their weak results will influence a market that trusts they are. In what is a complete-toss-up game, Buffalo plus this tag is the hold-your-nose play here.
