OT included. We suggested that the Panthers are dangerous, talented and underpriced and all they did was go out and get whacked by Dallas, 6-1. We’re not going to put much emphasis on one result and will continue to get behind this live pup as long as the prices warrant so. We have two entities wrongly priced here, as the Panthers stock is low and the Caps stock is far higher than it deserves to be.
The Capitals played three games since their bye week and they’re 0-3 in those games. In its three games last week, Washington mustered a mere 19 shots on net against New Jersey, they were lifeless in Montreal and as a -155 favorite over Philadelphia, on Sunday, they lost that one too. The Caps have been off since Sunday, will play this one game on the road and will subsequently have another four days off. Not enough playing lately has left this team flat and they weren’t that good to begin with. Another four days off after this one and it seems like this is more of an inconvenience than anything else. The Caps’ record is one of the most misleading in the game and while the correction has started, it’s not quite done yet. The Capitals average just 29.7 shots per game, the lowest total in the league. The Caps have also given up a league-worst 494 “high danger” chances at even strength, according to Natural Stat Trick. We could go into more metrics of how stale this Caps’ team is but we’re not going to bore you with the details. The Panthers come to play every night while the Caps look at half speed these days.
