Pittsburgh +6½ +105 over Cincinnati

1:00 PM EST. There might not be a better game to bet on the board this weekend. The Bengals are coming off a Super Bowl appearance, so expectations are sky-high. However, is there potential for a letdown here in 2022? Truth be told, the Bengals should have cashed that championship in, and they surely know it. We’ve seen this movie before. Look at the 49ers after they blew their championship chances against the Chiefs in 2019. One could argue the ‘Niners are still shell-shocked after Patty Mahomes went off for 21 straight points in the final six minutes of that game to rip the Lombardi Trophy. The following season, the 49ers went 6-10.

Does that same fate await the Bengals? We’ll see, but what we do know is that Cincy comes into 2022 with a target on its back, not to mention the weight of expectations. They are the division favorites, neck, and neck with Baltimore, which is miles ahead of where this market has placed the Steelers. Legit question, when was the last time the Bengals were expected to spot points in this range against their hated rivals?

We can say for a fact the last time the Bengals were favored in any range against the Steelers was way back in 2018. That game was Andy Dalton v Ben Roethlisberger. Much has changed on both sides since then. The Bengals now have their franchise pivot in Joe Burrow, while the Steelers are moving on after the retirement of “Big Ben”.

Enter Mitch Trubisky, who might be the least sexy starting quarterback in this league. That’s ok with us because the dude has got a bad rap, that is undeserved. Trubisky is best remembered for his time in Chicago where he earned the “bust label” after being taken #2 overall by the Bears. Now a couple of years removed, that Trubisky took a Matt Nagy lead offense to the playoffs makes him look like Joe freakin’ Montana. Trubisky spent last season watching Josh Allen work in Buffalo and we trust that time has served him well. Mitch had a damn good preseason and looks every bit the part of a quality NFL starter. These inflated points are going to be easy to scoop up, but don’t be shocked if the Steelers win this game outright. This game ticks all the boxes that inlcude, market perception, buy-low/sell high and inflated points among other things.

Our Pick

Pittsburgh +6½ +105 (Risking 2 units - To Win: 2.10)
