Those that know us know that we generally do not like getting mixed up in Thursday Night Football. The game is usually hot garbage; there are dozens of unseen variables that span over 100 players and coaches and because of that, t’s usually an easy pass. This week does not appear to be much different.

The Patriots are the hottest team in football—ripping off four straight wins—including a romp over the Browns in Week 11. Mac Jones is the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year; coach Bill Belichick is back to being the “genius” after surrounding Jones with a pair of undrafted receivers that are making plays in Jakobi Meyers and Kendrick Bourne. The offensive line is finally healthy; the defense line is ferocious and unblockable. The 2-4 start for the Patriots is long forgotten—this team’s pedigree is decades ingrained in the market—the hype train has left the station.

What of the Falcons—a most pitiful franchise in the wake of the worst Super Bowl collapse of all time? That storyline runs deep between these two slides, but believe it or not—that game almost four years ago has nothing to do with the contest tonight.

On a typical Sunday, a game like this would be high on our radar based on overreactions to last week’s results. One team’s stock is high (Patriots) after a blowout win—the other in the toilet (Falcons) after stinking out Jerry’s Place in Dallas. Those that pegged the Dirty Birds to be in a shootout in Big D were half right. Do you think they’ll make that mistake again? The opening line of 6 is also another scenario that piques our interest—again, that is on a “regular” week—that number is notorious for producing live underdogs that stand an excellent chance to win outright. For the moment, however, we’re not interested in stepping in here, although if we were, it would be Falcons or nothing. Enjoy the game.
