N.Y. Giants +3½ over WASHINGTON

8:20 PM EST. Last Thursday’s opener was not really a true Thursday night game because it wasn’t a short week. The real garbage gets underway tonight and we say garbage because that’s what the Thursday night game usually delivers. However, it doesn’t mean there isn’t an opportunity because there is.

New York's stock is lower than Washington's today, as a still struggling Giants’ offense started the year with a horrible showing at home. While The Football Team lost by just four points to the Chargers, the Giants got frog-stomped by Teddy “Wobbly Balls” Bridegwater and the Broncos back in New York. We can now take advantage of market perception, as Washington appeared to be in a dogfight against a good team while the Giants were stuck 27-7 in the 4th quarter to not such a good team. That sets up this value play on the Giants.

Truth be told, it’s a miracle that The Football Team didn’t lose by 40 points last week. That’s what kind of massacre it was but the final score does not reflect that. The Chargers had 27 first downs to Washington’s 15. The Chargers had 334 passing yards, Washington had 133. Time of possession was also a massacre but the final score was not because the zebras made some of the most bizarre calls you will ever see in a football game and we don’t say that half heartedly. Twitter was ablaze with people flabbergasted by what they were witnessing. Aside from the refs having a massive impact on the final score, it didn't take long for the Football Teams’ plans to go sour after Ryan Fitzpatrick injured his hip. Enter Taylor Heinicke, who is on his third NFL team with only two starts in his four-year career and in case you were interested, Washington is 11-5 with Alex Smith, and 6-28 without him. Now you're going to spot points on a short week with this team?

Daniel Jones passed for 267 yards last week against an average defense. Word around betting markets is that Washington’s D is above average too but they were on the field for over 36 minutes last week and will now play on a short week.  Look, we’re not in love with the G-Men. We saw the same thing as the market did. No offense, a weak offensive line and a blowout loss to the Broncs. Also, no rushing game, no Saquon and no protection. The list of "no's" is endless. However, this is more of a fade on The Football Team that is being asked to win by a margin with a 28-year-old QB that has made two career starts and with a career QB rating of 34. One can try and make a case, and tonight's fucking pregame show will attempt to do just this—that things have changed for the better in Washington. They have not. Take the points.
