PHILADELPHIA +6½ -104 over Washington

8:20 PM EST. By the time this one kicks off at 8:20 PM, there is going to be a lot of interest and money bet and we’re going to anticipate a market overreaction to the Football Team being in a “must-win” situation. The Football Team looked like it would just cruise to a division title but two straight losses mean that they need to improve their 3-4 road record to reach the playoffs before an eventual loss to a Wildcard team. Washington gets Alex Smith back this week since they just fired Dwayne Haskins after his strip joint visit put things into motion that he could not stop. Losing to the visiting Panthers doesn't signal this week goes well since the Eagles are a different team than what they faced in the season opener. In that game, Philadelphia was a 5½-point choice in Washington.

Alex Smith missed the last two games with a calf injury that will be tested this week to determine if he can survive. Smith hasn't brought more than one passing score to any game and usually sub 200-yard performances. He's not the turnover machine that Haskins was but we’re not interested in spotting significant road points with Alex Smith or Taylor Heinicke if Smith goes down. Heinicke's only action this year was last week when he replaced the benched Haskins.

Losing the last two games sunk the Eagle playoff hopes but they were both on the road. Jalen Hurts only needed a couple of games to forever steal the starting spot and they return home this week where they last beat the Saints in Week 14. Like so many other teams, the Eagles suffered through injuries to all facets of their team and the offensive line that started out as one of the best in the league is ending as more of a liability than an asset. This final home game gives the Eagles a chance to leave 2020 on a high note but more importantly, it gives them a shot to knock Washington out of the playoffs in the final regular season game in the most bizarre season ever. We’re suggesting that one would be hard pressed to find a team today that will be more motivated than the Eagles but the kicker here is that Washington will enter this game with the weight of expectations on their shoulders and frankly, we don’t want any part of their conserrvative game plan and extreme nervousness. Eagles outright is the call but we are going to wait until game time to make an official wager on this game.
