ARIZONA -6½ -104 over Philadelphia
4:05 PM EST. Has anyone’s stock in this league risen higher than Jalen Hurts this week? You’re going to hear a ton of hot takes this week that maybe, just maybe, Carson Wentz was/is the problem in Philadelphia. The Eagles were the most significant (not the biggest) underdog to win outright in Week 14 and they looked like a totally different team under Hurts. Eagles coach Doug Pederson would not name his starter for Week 15, but c’mon, who is he kidding? As for his performance, it didn’t take much for the rookie pivot to outshine Wentz, as he went 17-for-30 for 167 yards and a touchdown. Where Hurts shined was his ability to scramble after rushing for 108 yards on 18 attempts. From our perch, Hurts looks a lot more like Lamar Jackson in that he appears to be more of a runner than passer. We thank him for his service, as we cashed our ticket with the Eagles last Sunday, but now it is time to switch gears.
The Eagles were getting 8½ points on their home field against a third string tight end posing as a quarterback in Taysom Hill and now they are taking back less on the road against Kyler Murray? Excuse me? The Cardinals basically had the week off after smashing the Giants 26-7. That final score greatly flattered the host G-Men, as the Red Birds had 12 more first downs, outgained the Giants by 231 yards and owned the rock for 15 more minutes. In retrospect, it is incredible that the Cardinals were favored by less than a field goal in Jersey, but their stock is low after losing three of four prior to that win. It does not appear that crushing the Giants will do much to raise one’s stock, which is great because this line would have been much higher just a week or two ago. We now get to back Arizona at a discount. For some perspective, the Cardinals were priced in this range against the Dolphins just over a month ago. Would anyone have the Eagles and Fish evenly matched here in Week 15? We doubt it. Underlay.
