INDIANAPOLIS -1½ -107 over Atlanta

1:00 PM EST. One thing that remains constant in the NFL is that stand alone games, the ones played on Thursday night, Sunday night and Monday night always have the biggest market reactions the following week. On Sunday afternoon, one is focused on eight games instead of one so it is only reasonable to expect such big over and under-reactions on those stand alone games when the market is solely focused on it. Atlanta defeating the Eagles last Monday gives the Dirty Birds a decent look going into this Week 3 tilt against the Andrew Luck-less Colts.

Indy went into OT in San Diego in Week 1 and ended up on the short end. They shredded the Bolts on the ground but still lost. The Colts went into Tennessee in Week 2 and won. They are 1-1 after two road games but could easily be 2-0. The Colts outlasted the Titans last week and the defense is doing more than their share to keep them in games. Additionally, Jacoby Brissett hasn't been the liability that most expected.

What has Atlanta done? They hung on for dear life against a banged up Philadelphia team that was scrambling just to get some bodies out there. The Eagles were so banged up that they skipped practice this week on Wednesday because few were able to suit up. Atlanta barely got by the Eagles. In Week 1, the Falcons lost 28-12 to Minnesota with the 12 points coming on two garbage time TD’s late in the fourth quarter. The Falcons also have a day less to prepare while trying to avoid an emotional letdown after hosting Monday Night Football. All their friends were there. In any event, we absolutely trust that we’re getting the Colts at a reduced rate here.
