8:20 PM EST.  We’re not sure why the Titans are favored here. Is it because Jacksonville is 0-2 and lost its starting QB in Week 1? Is it because Tennessee kicked Cleveland’s butt by 30 points in Week 1? Frankly, it is a combination of both those things that have the wrong side favored here so allow us to break it down for you.

Jacksonville losing its starting QB might be a blessing in disguise. Gardner Minshew threw for a credible 275 yards and two scores on the Chiefs in Week 1. His performance wasn’t as good last week in Houston, as he settled for only 213 yards but he ran six times for 56 yards and was poised and confident in nearly pulling off the upset of the week. Remember, the Jag-Wires were a 8½-point dog for most of the week before closing as a 7½-point dog and had their coach kicked the extra point instead of going for two and the win, the Jags may have won last week. While the move itself was curious, it had to give Minshew a great boost of confidence knowing that his coach thought that highly of him to go for the win with a two-point conversion.

This kid has swag and pedigree. Minshew was awarded the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the nation's top senior- or fourth-year quarterback. Minshew finished fifth in voting for the Heisman Trophy after leading  Washington State to a school-record-breaking 11 wins in 2018. At the end of the 2018 regular season, Minshew led FBS in pass completions, passing yards per game (367.6) was second in passing yards and finished in the top five with 38 touchdowns. During Washington State's Alamo Bowl win over Iowa State, Minshew claimed the Pac-12 single season record for most passing yards, a record previously held by Jared Goff. He’s an interesting cat too. He beats to his own drum and is not nervous, anxious or tentative. He’ll throw downfield instead of checking down to the tight end like many rookies. Remember, last week he was on the road. He has two games under his belt but really only one as a starter. Figure him and the Jags to be playing at a high level here against a very beatable team.

The Titans are being credited in the media for their defense that held Cleveland to 13 points and Indianapolis to 19. You’ll have to excuse us while we crap our pants in awe of the Titans defense. Have you watched Cleveland play? Any other team would’ve scored 56 against the Jets last Monday so Tennessee holding Cleveland to 13 is no great feat. What you may not know about Tennessee’s 43-13 win is that the Brownies turned it over four times and still outgained the Titans. Had they not turned it over, maybe they score 28 or 30. That “great” defense held the Colts to 19 but so what. The Colts are without Andrew Luck, remember? Furthermore, Tenneseee lost that game last week and it was outgained by the Colts. Marcus Mariotta is a below average QB that we wouldn’t trust for a second as road chalk.

Again, Jacksonville is 0-2 but a healthy Chiefs team outgained them by just 63 yards in Week 1. Last week, the Jags outgained the Texans in Houston. Jacksonville is on the verge of a win. Minshew is a true leader, which is something the Jags have lacked for years. His confidence and will to win can only help a talented team that may finally have the “intangibles” to put together a run. Finally, this is the Thursday Night game, which has traditionally been tough on toad teams that have to travel on a short week. This game is priced wrong and we’re all over it.
