4:40 PM EST. We’re calling this one the best value play of the weekend. For whatever reason, the Super Bowl champs keep getting disrespected and now that disrespect has hit a new level. The Philadelphia Eagles are an elite team taking back massive points when they shouldn’t be.

Let’s assume for a second that the Saints put up a somewhat crooked number, say 30 or 35 points. That’s fine because Philadelphia’s offense is potent too. Nick Foles you say? Well, Foles has a QB rating in the playoffs of 105 (!) and we’re not talking about a game or two either. Dude keeps delivering but nobody wants to give him credit. The Eagles are 5-1 straight up (forget the points) as an underdog. They went into L.A. in a high profile Monday night game four weeks ago and as a 12½-point dog, the dismantled the Rams. The very next week against Houston, Nick Foles lit up the Texans for 471 yards and four TD’s. The Eagles went into Soldier Field last week in the most hostile environments and hung around the entire game before pulling it out. That’s what the Eagles do. They hang around and usually win. What if the Eagles score first, a distinct possibility indeed? Now those backing the Saints are looking at a 15-point deficit.

What this market is focusing on is Philadelphia’s trip to New Orleans back in Week 11. Carson Wentz passed for just 156 yards that day and the Eagles got absolutely rocked in a high profile, 48-7 loss. Philadelphia was trending the wrong way when they faced New Orleans in Week 11, having lost two of three and three of five and they were taking back 7-points that day. Now, they’re on fire and taking back more points.

And what about the Saints? When they faced the Eagles in Week 11, they were on a 9-game winning streak. They were the hottest team in the league and the Super Bowl favorite, yet they were only -7 against Philly and now they’re -8. The Saints have not looked sharp down the stretch with an ugly loss to Dallas (13-10) and an ugly victory over Carolina (12-9). In fact, since playing Philadelphia in Week 11, the Saints also looked ordinary in games against Atlanta and Tampa. The Saints are getting way too much credit here. Philadelphia is 3-1 against top-10 teams this year while the Saints defense has allowed over 300-passing yards at home four times this year.

The Philadelphia Eagles started the year all banged up with a Super Bowl hangover. They have re-established themselves as a legit contender and we would even go as far as saying that they might be the Super Bowl favorite at the beginning of next season because that’s how good they are. Now put a chip on their shoulder and give em eight points and it’s a bet we would make 100% of the time and frankly, we would not be a bit shocked if the Eagles won this game outright.
