8:15 PM EST. The Cowboys were the only favored (and home) team that won last week and while they are 8-1 at home, they are only 3-5 on the road. The Rams come off their bye with a 7-1 home record and ready to go. Of all the four winners last week, Dallas’ win over Seattle was the least impressive because they did not cover but Seattle’s cover was a complete fluke. At the end of the day, we have a hard time finding a single reason to be spotting significant points with the Rams here.

The Cowboys defense is the superior unit here and it’s not even close. Dallas’ defense has not allowed more than 24 points to any of the top-5 offenses they faced. That defense faced the Saints and allowed 13 points. That defense faced the Colts and allowed 23 points when the offense failed to score. Week after week after week, the Cowboys defense has put the team in a position to win so why wouldn’t we trust them to do the same thing this week? There is also something else very worth mentioning here. What was highly noticeable last week in the four playoff games was that there were few flags. It is without question that the refs were instructed to ease the f**k up in that department, thus allowing the defenses to play. The Cowboys defense has delivered all year and their offense has been delivering since Amari Cooper showed up.

By contrast, L.A’s defense has not delivered anything. Philadelphia scored 30 on them in a high profile prime time game late in the season. Kansas City scored 51, the Saints scored 45 and Seattle and Minnesota both scored 31. The Rams defensive woes were hidden because the team was winning but as the season wore on Jared Goff and the offense got worse. Goff started the year on fire and ended with a career-best 4,688 yards with 32 passing touchdowns. However, between Weeks 13 and 16, he only threw two TD’s combined and only once threw for more than 216 yards. Goff looked very uncomfortable the last month of the season and now he’ll have to shake off the rust of a week off and face the league’s best defense.

Finally, if momentum counts for anything, Dallas has even more appeal here. You might remember the final game of the regular season when Dallas went into New York with absolutely nothing to play for and for 60 minutes they played like it was life or death. A lot of folks questioned that strategy but here we are, two weeks later and the Cowboys are playing great while bringing a boatload of confidence and momentum. We have seen nothing like that from the Rams of late and let’s not forget that Monday nighter when, as a 13-point favorite over Philadelphia, the Rams lost outright. The week prior to that, Chicago held the Rams to six points. It would appear to us that the blueprint is out on how to make Jared Goff very uncomfortable. This is now where the Cowboys show that they are truly the better team and not just a home field phenomena. We’re calling the upset here but in no way are we passing up on these generous points.
