1:00 PM EST. We're usually not in favor of backing a team coming off a huge prime-time performance, but there are a lot of moving parts here and there are exceptions to every rule. Firstly, like the Titans, the Patriots are coming off a high profile game in a featured spot, as they beat the Packers 31-17 at home in Foxboro on Sunday Night Football. That double-digit win certainly looks impressive on the surface, but box scores lie and the real story of that game came down to an Aaron Jones fumble to start the fourth quarter that ended a very good Packers drive dead in its tracks at the New England 34 yard line. The Pats would of course score on that next possession and never looked back. It was a potential 14-point swing in New England's favor and instead of ripping tickets, their backers got a gift. That one play changed everything.

The Titans handed the Cowboys their asses on Monday Night Football, but they are not picking up much steam, as it is the faults of Dallas that are getting all the press clippings. That suits us just fine because although the Titans are coming off a big win, they are not going to be an appealing bet in the market because of the short turnaround time and because the Pats are the Pats.

We could break down the Xs and Os here, but we'll leave that to the talking heads. The most interesting dynamic in this game is the relationship between head coaches. Titans bench boss Mike Vrabel spent eight decorated seasons as the leader of the Patriots defense from 2001 to 2008. He was so popular that there was an offensive play designed around him and he finished with 10 career catches on 14 targets and every one was for a major. He scored touchdowns in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX and won three championships as a cornerstone of the Pats dynasty. Why does this matter? If you think that Bill Belichick is going to embarrass Vrabel on Sunday, you're out of your mind.

That said, there is a great chance that the Titans are good enough to hang here and BB won't have to call off the dogs. While the NFL season flies by, New England's Week 3 trip to Detroit wasn't that long ago and like Lions coach Matt Patricia, Vrabel knows the ins and outs of the Patriots system and they are uniquely qualified to gameplan against their former boss. The Lions limited Tom Brady to just 133 yards and went gate to wire in that 26-10 win on Sunday Night Football. The template to stop the Patriots is there and while the Lions had picked up steam after that win, we've since found out that they aren't quite as good as advertised. Vrabel’s Titans have proved to be a tough out and they are well suited to not just cover, but win this game outright. We expect a better number on Sunday morning as the action will heavily favor the Patriots.
